The plastic delivery film on the rear of the shingles shouldn’t be eliminated. The sole reason for this tape is to keep the shingles from staying together in the bundle. Once the shingle has been removed from its packaging and positioned correctly, it will seal with succeeding courses when warmed by heat exposure during the installation process.
